What is psychodynamic Psychotherapy?

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a type of therapy that focuses on the causes of the emotional distress. It is not centered on behavior. Through insight and self reflection, psychodynamic psychotherapy attempts to understand and untangle the roots of the issues which lead people to seek therapy. An important part of the work consists on understanding the relationship between therapist and patient, as old patterns may be replicated in the sessions, therefore becoming a powerful tool to gain clarity in the “here and now”.
